Our company succeeds in separating series characteristic ingredients from Bamboo shavings

Recently, the research project of international cooperation undertook by our company, target separation of some active ingredients from Bamboo shavings, resulted in success.

Our company’s researchers analyzed retention time of the active components and status of ultraviolet absorption, efficiently used separation methods, such as column chromatography separation, high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), preparative high performance liquid chromatography, high-speed countercurrent chromatography (HSCCC) and so on, successfully isolated and got multiple phenylpropanoids and lignans compounds from Bamboo shavings.

Bamboo shavings as one of the clinical commonly used traditional Chinese medicines, is a good dietary supplement and health food function factor. It can be used as natural food ingredients and daily cosmetics functional components; moreover it has great market potential as a bulk of pharmaceutical intermediates development. Korea Institute of Oriental Medicine and other institutes had carried out systematic research of Bamboo shavings, but met some technical bottleneck in the purification of target products, such as complex process, low yield, and low purity of product. Our company has successfully solved the problems of system separation, which were difficult to solve for foreign research institutes, achieved separation of multiple target components in the short term, and achieved satisfactory results.

A large number of research results show that coumaric acid and coniferyl aldehyde that our company successfully isolated from Bamboo shavings have effects of antioxidant, anti cardiovascular disease, anti-tumor, protecting liver, gallbladder and other functions. The separation technology with low cost, high yield and suitable for industrialization, provides the foundation for the industrialization of active components from Bamboo shavings.
